With Christmas fast approaching, we have a number of events planned in school that we wanted to inform you about in advance.
Virtual Christmas Performances
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, our Christmas performances will be virtual.
EYFS and Key Stage 1, will be performing a Christmas Nativity, ‘Whoop’s- a- Daisy- Angel’. This will be filmed in school and uploaded to Microsoft Teams for parents to watch. The video of the nativity will be uploaded to your child’s class page on Monday 14th December.
Key Stage 2 children will be showcasing their singing talents through a Christmas carol performance from each class. These will also be recorded and uploaded each class’ Microsoft Teams page for families to watch on their child’s Microsoft Teams account.
Non-Uniform Days and Christmas Jumper Day
We will be holding a non-uniform days on the following days:
- Friday 10th December. In exchange for wearing non-uniform please bring a £1 donation which will go towards buying items for our Christmas hampers.
- Friday 17th December. Children may come to school wearing a Christmas jumper, dress, or tshirt if they wish. There is no donation or this – it’s just for fun!
Sadly we are unable to have a Christmas Fair again this year. However, we will be having a Christmas Raffle with hampers to be won. Donations from the non-uniform day will be used to make the Christmas Hampers.
Tickets for the raffle can be purchased from Monday 6th December for 50p each. The raffle will be drawn online on Wednesday 15th December. I will let you know more details nearer the time. Good luck!!
Christmas dinner will be served on Tuesday 14th December. All children are welcome to have one. Children who already have school meals will get it automatically. Children who normally have a packed lunch, will need to book their Christmas Dinner in advance. An additional letter will come out shortly with reply slip which needs to be returned to the office to book your dinner. The cost of Christmas Dinner is £2.20 for those families who do not receive free school meals.
This year we would like pupils to be able to enjoy sharing Christmas cards as in previous years, whilst keeping one another safe. On Monday 6th December, two posts boxes will magically appear on both the main playground and the EYFS playground, for pupils to post their Christmas cards to one another. Post boxes will disappear from the playgrounds on Friday 10th December. The Castle Hill Elves will keep them safe for a few days, then sort and deliver the post safely to classes on Tuesday 14th December. Please ensure names and classes are included on the envelope to assist the delivery process.
Each class will be having a Christmas party in their classroom with their classmates. School will provide children with some party food this year. The children may come into school wearing their own clothes on their party day.
The party days are as follows:
Wednesday 15th December: Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
Thursday 16th December: Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
The children break up for the Christmas holidays on Friday 17th December at 3:15 p.m. and will return to school on Wednesday 5th January at 8:40 a.m.
