FSM Update for parents

Friday 15th January 2021

Dear parent / carer

I am writing again to keep you up to date with what is happening to support you and your child during the national lockdown and consequent school closure.

Live Online Lessons

It has been great to see so many of the children logging onto Microsoft Teams and attending their online lessons with their teachers.  Well done and thank you for your ongoing support with this.  I am aware that there have been some technological difficulties on occasions.  Please contact school if you are having difficulties accessing the online lessons and we will do all that we can to assist you.  This includes if you require support with mobile data or a laptop for your child to use.

Paper Work Packs

The paper work packs that you currently have contain the learning for next week.  Staff will be coming to collect these completed work packs from you next Friday, 22nd January – please have them ready.  Staff will also deliver the work packs for the following two weeks.  The next work packs will have the learning activities organised into daily ‘chunks’ to hopefully make using them easier for you and your child.

Please be aware that we are keeping registers of attendance in school, at online live lessons and for completion of home work packs.  We will contact you to see how we can support if your child is not completing any of the learning being made available to you.

Free School Meals

It was finally confirmed yesterday that the National Voucher Scheme for free school meals was starting nationally from Monday.  We have already registered Castle Hill to be a part of this scheme again.  School will be contacted on Monday and allocated a day on which we can order your vouchers for you.  We will then upload our order to the Government website and the vouchers will be emailed directly to you all.  Please note that we will not know when we can place the order until we have been advised by the Government’s provider.  Please be aware that this may mean that you do not receive your voucher until later in the week.  We will upload our order as soon as we are told to do so and the order will include vouchers for the next four weeks (until February half term).

Like before, the vouchers can be used to purchase food and drink only for your child’s lunch from a selection of the larger supermarkets.

Please note that as we will be using the National Voucher Scheme, we will no longer be providing packed lunches; this includes the children currently attending school.  From Monday 18th January, all children must bring their own packed lunch if they are coming into school.

Keep safe and well.
