School Closure Parent Information
Tuesday 5th January 2021
Dear Parent / Carer
I am sure that last night’s announcement from the government to close all schools in the U.K will have left you with a number of concerns and questions. I will do my best to reassure you and provide you all with as much information as possible at this time.
For the vast majority of pupils, school will be closed from Tuesday 5th January until at least February 12th. This means that the majority of pupils will be required to stay at home until the school reopens. There are two categories of pupils for whom the school will be able to provide learning in school, in line with government guidance. These categories are:
- Children with parents who are ‘critical workers’.
- Vulnerable children.
The list of ‘critical workers, as outlined by the Government, has been shared on our website and Facebook page.
There are different criteria for ‘vulnerable’ children. We will contact parents directly if we feel you meet this criteria and offer you place in school.
For the rest of this week, work has been added to the Class pages under the Children section of the school website for the children to access. The same work will be delivered to those children who will be attending school this week.
By Friday 8th January, a work pack will be delivered to all children who will be learning at home. This will consist of:
- Exercise books
- A pack of learning activities for the next two weeks
- A pencil
- Topic related knowledge organisers
- Log in details for Microsoft Teams and Purple Mash.
- Timetable for online lessons
From Monday 11th January, the teachers will be delivering daily online lessons via Microsoft Teams – a timetable will be included in your pack. The teachers will deliver the lessons to the children working at home.
In addition to this, online activities will also be available for the children to access on the Year Group pages of the website. This includes Times Tables
Rockstars, Purple Mash and Phonics Play.
Remember to use the class email address if you need to contact your child’s teacher regarding their online learning.
Please contact school urgently if you do not have wifi at home and your child will be unable to access the online learning.
Alternatively, if you have wifi but no device (such as a tablet or laptop), please contact school.
A number of our pupils are entitled to receive a free school meal each day. I am pleased to be able to tell you that this will continue during the school’s closure. For children working at home, a packed lunch can be collected, from the Reception classroom between 11:45 am and 12:15 pm each day. Children attending school who are entitled to a free school meal, will be given one in class.
During the school’s closure, we will endeavour to keep you as up to date as possible regarding the ongoing situation. Regular notices will be placed on the school’s website and Facebook page so please do check them regularly. The parents’ text message system will also be used to send reminders and small updates.
I would like to thank you all for your help and support as we all do what we can to support our community in these extremely challenging times.
Take good care of yourselves and each other.
