Design and Technology Intent

At Castle Hill Primary School, we believe that our children should receive a Design and Technology curriculum which allows them to exercise their creativity and passion through exciting designing and making opportunities. We strive to give our children inspiring, inclusive and practical learning experiences through tackling and solving real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts.

At Castle Hill, we use a topic based approach which caters for the creative and meaningful Design and Technology curriculum we aim to provide. It gives children the opportunities to research, represent their ideas, explore and investigate, develop their ideas, make a product and evaluate their work.

Design and Technology at our school allows children to apply the knowledge and skills learned in other subjects and develop as holistic learners. Our children are encouraged to become problem solvers, innovators and risk takers through the learning and development of the knowledge and key skills which equip and prepare them for the challenges of the modern world and their future lives.
