RE: Parent Phonic Workshops for Year 1 and 2
Dear Parent / Carer,
Welcome back to all our families. It has been lovely to see our children settle back into school life so positively.
Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at our school. Everything else depends on it, so we put as much energy as we possibly can into making sure that every single child learns to read as quickly as possible. As you are aware, we start by teaching phonics to children in Reception and this continues into year 1 and for some children year 2. In the summer term of Year 1, the government asks us to do a phonics check of all the Year 1 children to give us information about their phonic knowledge and progress.
In order to provide you with information about how we teach phonics and how you can support your child at home, we are offering a ‘Phonic workshop’ for the parents/carers.
We are inviting you to one of the following workshops at school:
Tuesday 13th September at 9:00 AM or Tuesday 13th September at 2:45 PM
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you.
Kind regards,
Lucy Ebdon
Deputy Headteacher

RE: Parent Phonic Workshops for Reception
Dear Parent / Carer,
What a wonderful start our new Reception children have had so far this week; they are settling in so well and we are very proud of them!
Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at our school. Everything else depends on it, so we put as much energy as we possibly can into making sure that every single child learns to read as quickly as possible. We start by teaching phonics to children in Reception. This means they learn how to ‘read’ the sounds in words and how sounds can be written down.
In order to provide you with information about how we teach phonics and how you can support your child at home, we are offering a ‘Phonic workshop’ for the parents/carers.
We are inviting you to one of the following workshops:
Wednesday 14th September at 9:00 AM or Wednesday 14th September at 2:45 PM
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you.
Kind regards,
